Verizon Communications finance chief Francis Shammo plans to leave his post on Nov. 1 and retire at the end of the year. Matthew Ellis, CFO-operations finance, will replace him. Shammo has headed finance since 2010.

Medical-device firm The Cooper Cos. said chief strategy officer Albert White III will add to his responsibilities and also become CFO, effective Nov. 1. As such, he succeeds CFO and chief risk officer Gregory Matz, who will be an adviser to the company until his retirement next March.
Orchids Paper Products has chosen Rodney Gloss to lead the finance function, effective Sept. 12. Most recently, he held the top finance spot at Atna Resources.
Mark Carleton has been named CFO at Liberty Media, effective Oct. 1. He takes over for Christopher Shean, CFO since 2011, who will become a senior adviser. Carleton had previously been chief development officer at the firm.
Ferro, which makes specialty materials and chemicals, has promoted Benjamin Schlater to finance chief, replacing Jeffrey Rutherford. Schlater joined the firm a year ago as vice president, corporate development and strategy.
Staffing provider Command Center has selected Colette Pieper to head finance, succeeding Jeff Wilson. Formerly, she led the finance function at Life Partners Holdings.
Mike Eklund has been named CFO and COO at DJO Global, effective Sept. 12. He comes to the medical-device developer, manufacturer, and distributor from Dell, where he was senior vice president in the Dell/EMC Value Creation and Integration Management Office.
Lithium Technologies has chosen Jim Cox to fill the top finance spot, replacing Mark Culhane. Most recently, Cox was finance chief at Advent Software.
