Chris Liddell has been named vice chairman and CFO of General Motors. He will leave Microsoft, where he has headed finance since 2005, on December 31. Liddell succeeds Ray Young, who has been appointed vice president, international operations.
Retailer Urban Outfitters Inc. has announced that John Kyees will retire as CFO, effective February 1. He will be succeeded at that time by Eric Artz, who comes to the firm from VF Corp., where he led finance for VF Contemporary Brands. Kyees will become chief investor relations officer until his retirement from the company, which is expected to be in June.
Raymond Silcock has left his post as CFO of KB Home. William Hollinger, who has been chief accounting officer since 2007, will take on the role of principal financial officer until a permanent replacement for Silcock is found.
Semiconductor firm Altera Corp. has appointed Ronald Pasek to the top finance spot. Pasek worked at Sun Microsystems for 19 years, most recently as corporate treasurer.
Dirk Sodestrom is the new finance chief at professional-services firm M Squared Consulting Inc. He comes to the company from Actel Corp., where he was corporate controller and interim CFO.

Paul Briggs has been promoted to president and CEO of Law Enforcement Associates Corp., a manufacturer and developer of electronic surveillance equipment. Briggs, who has been CFO since May 2008, will stay on in that position until a replacement is found.

Robert Woods will be the new finance chief at software and IT-services company SunGard, effective January 1. He takes over from Michael Ruane, who will become CFO of the firm’s Availability Services business. Woods is a former CFO of IKON Office Solutions.
