Asset-management company Legg Mason Inc. has named Peter Nachtwey CFO. Most recently, he headed finance at The Carlyle Group.
Time Warner Cable Inc. has promoted Robert Marcus to the roles of president and chief operating officer. Marcus, who has been at the company since 2005 and was named finance chief in 2008, will also continue in that role while a search is under way for his successor.
Dennis Hickey has been promoted to the top finance spot at Colgate-Palmolive Co., effective January 1. He replaces Stephen Patrick, who will become vice chairman until he retires in March. Hickey has been at the firm since 1977 and has served as corporate controller since 1998.
MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. has named Mark Murphy as its new CFO, effective January 10. He joins the firm from Praxair Inc., where he was controller. Murphy succeeds Tim Oliver, who will stay on in a nonexecutive position through the end of the first quarter of 2011.
Grocery retailer Supervalu Inc. has appointed Sherry Smith to lead the finance function. Smith has been interim CFO since July; before that, she was senior vice president, finance.
Al Wood, finance chief at communications-technologies provider Dialogic Inc., will leave the company because it is relocating its senior financial-management operations to New Jersey. Wood, who will stay on as CFO and principal accounting officer through March, had been CFO of Veraz Networks and became head of finance at Dialogic earlier this year after the two firms merged.
Jens Meyerhoff, CFO of solar-module manufacturer First Solar Inc., has become president of its utility systems business. Chief accounting officer James Zhu will replace him as interim CFO, effective January 1.
SED International Holdings Inc. has promoted J. Stanley Baumgartner Jr. to lead the finance function. He takes over from Lyle Dickler, who will become vice president of finance, secretary, and treasurer of the supply-chain-management provider. Baumgartner has been special assistant to the CEO since he joined the company last month.
Lawrence Hyatt has been named to the top finance spot at country store and restaurant operator Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc., effective January 3. Previously, he was CFO and treasurer at O’Charley’s Inc.
Oil and natural-gas firm Penn Virginia Corp. has promoted Steven Hartman to head finance. Hartman has been at the company since 2003 and has been treasurer since 2006.
