Dow Jones & Co. has named Kevin Halpin as its new finance chief, effective October 15. He takes over from Stephen Daintith, who is leaving the company. Halpin joins Dow Jones from its parent company, News Corp., where he was senior vice president of finance.
Charles Holley will become head of finance at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on November 30 upon the retirement of Tom Schoewe. Holley has been at the company since 1994, and is now executive vice president, finance, and treasurer.
Entertainment company Viacom Inc. has promoted James Barge to the top finance spot, replacing COO Thomas Dooley, who has been CFO since 2007. Barge formerly was controller, tax and treasury.
Kathryn Mikells will lead the finance function at water-treatment and process-improvement firm Nalco Co. She succeeds Brad Bell, who said in May that he would retire by the end of the year. Mikells, now CFO of UAL Corp. (United Airlines’s parent company), will start at Nalco once the merger between United and Continental Airlines is complete.
CFO Lanny Baker has been promoted to president and CEO of real-estate brokerage ZipRealty Inc., replacing J. Patrick Lashinsky. Baker has headed finance since 2008; before that, he was CFO of Monster Worldwide.
USA Mobility Inc. has promoted Shawn Endsley to head finance, succeeding CFO and COO Thomas Schilling, who is leaving the company. Endsley has been controller at the wireless-communications company since 2004.
Education company Ambassadors Group Inc. has named Anthony Dombrowik to the top finance spot. He takes over from Kristi Gravelle, vice president, finance and accounting, who has been interim CFO. Most recently, Dombrowik was CFO of Red Lion Hotels Corp.
Silver Spring Networks has appointed John Joyce vice chairman and CFO, replacing Warren Jenson, now COO. He comes to the firm from Silver Lake Partners, where he was a managing director. Prior to that, he worked at IBM for 30 years; his last position there was senior vice president and group executive for IBM Global Services.
Andrew Guggenhime has been named to lead the finance function at Calistoga Pharmaceuticals Inc. Formerly, he was CFO of Facet Biotech Corp.
Patricia Chiodo will take over the top finance spot on a permanent basis at RSC Equipment Rental Inc. Chiodo, who has been interim CFO since April, previously was vice president, controller, at the company.
