Mozilla, the organization behind the Firefox internet browser, appointed Eric Muhlheim chief financial officer. Muhlheim’s most recent corporate position was chief financial and administrative officer at BuzzFeed. He was also CFO of Helix Education, a provider of technology products to colleges, and finance chief of digital media company OpenX. He started his career at The Walt Disney Company in corporate strategic planning. Muhlheim succeeds Roxi Wen, who left Mozilla in June for Invitae, a medical-genetics company.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store announced that Craig Pommells will join the company as senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective December 6. Pommells has more than 20 years of experience in food services, most recently as executive vice president and CFO of Red Lobster. Before joining Red Lobster, Pommells spent more than 10 years with Darden Restaurants in finance and business analytics roles. Pommells replaces Doug Couvillion, who had been serving as interim CFO since January 2021.
Brian T. Purcell, chief financial officer of Hostess Brands, resigned from his position on November 9, after spending less than two years at the bakery company. The Hostess board of directors named Michael Gernigin, senior vice president and corporate controller at Hostess, as interim CFO. Purcell’s resignation came the same day that the bakery company released its slightly delayed third-quarter financial results. Purcell was previously CFO of Rawlings Sporting Goods.
Automated software delivery company CloudBees named Audrey Zhao as chief financial officer. Zhao was most recently senior vice president of finance for Cloudera. At Cloudera, Zhao was instrumental in the company’s initial public offering. Prior to Cloudera, Zhao was vice president of financial planning and analysis and acting CFO at SugarCRM. At CloudBees, Zhao will oversee accounting, business operations, financial planning and analysis, legal, and procurement.
E-commerce-as-a-service platform Cart.com named Frank Parker its new CFO. Parker was previously executive vice president of Managed Health Care Associates and CFO of global e-commerce at Pitney Bowes. Cart.com recently raised $98 million in a Series B funding round. The company said Parker “will be tasked with taking the company global over the next 6 to 9 months in preparation for going public within the next two years.”
Activist firm Icahn Enterprises (IEP) appointed promoted CFO David Willetts to the position of president and chief executive. Willetts replaces Aris Kekedjian, who resigned after less than a year in the post. Willetts joined IEP as CFO in June. Before that, he was a managing director at AlixPartners. To replace Willetts, IEP appointed Ted Papapostolou, chief accounting officer at IEP since March 2020 and secretary since April 2020, to the chief financial officer role.
With long-serving CEO Richard Fain stepping down from his post at Royal Caribbean Group, the board named Jason Liberty, the cruise firm’s chief financial officer, as chief executive effective January 3, 2022. Liberty joined Royal Caribbean Group in 2005 and served in several financial, strategic, and operational roles before becoming chief financial officer in 2013. Royal Caribbean appointed Naftali Holtz, the company’s senior vice president of finance, to the CFO spot.
Workforce optimization software company Calabrio named CJ Bernander as its new chief financial officer. A CPA, Bernander has more than 15 years in financial leadership roles at technology companies. Prior to Calabrio, he was the CFO of e-commerce company Digital River. As CFO, Bernander will oversee global accounting, finance, treasury, tax, and legal functions. Calabrio was acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo in April 2021.
GRUBBRR, a provider of self-ordering solutions and kiosk software platforms, named Noel Marsden its chief financial officer. Marsden was previously CFO of financial services firm Goba Capital and president and CFO of CareCloud, a software-as-a-service platform for medical groups. Before CareCloud, Marsden was a senior vice president and treasurer at SoftBank subsidiary BrightStar.
