Computer maker NCR says its Teradata data warehousing division is getting slammed by a trend among its current customers to delay plans for upgrading their systems.
Customers with more than $60 million of data warehouse upgrades postponed their decision during the second quarter, many in the period’s final days. NCR says the majority of the deferrals came from companies based in the Americas, with the remainder spread evenly between the Europe-Middle East-Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.
Most of the deferrals were in the telecommunications and retail sectors.
Given the upgrade slowdown at Teradata, NCR says its revenue for the second quarter will come in at roughly $1.5 billion, a 3 percent gain from the year-ago period.
