• Revlon’s chief financial officer, David Kennedy, has been named president and chief executive officer of the company. He succeeds Jack Stahl, who will stay on in an advisory role for about a month. Kennedy has worked at Revlon since 2002, when he joined the company as executive vice president and president of Revlon International. Earlier this year, Kennedy was appointed CFO. He has also held financial positions with The Coca-Cola Company and Columbia Pictures, and started his career at Ernst & Young.
• William Ruehle, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Broadcom, has retired, effective immediately. He decided to leave the semiconductor manufacturer “as a result of Broadcom’s previously announced equity award review,” according to a company press release. Bruce E. Kiddoo, Broadcom’s vice president and corporate controller, will serve as the interim CFO. Ruehle had served as Broadcom’s CFO since 1997. The company has begun a search for a new CFO. Kiddoo is being seriously considered to fill the post, said the company statement.
• Sun Life Financial has appointed Ronald Friesen chief financial officer for the company’s U.S. division. He is currently vice president of corporate capital for Sun Life’s global headquarters in Toronto. He has worked at Sun Life since 2000. He previously worked at Bank of Montreal and Ernst & Young.
• GenVec has named Douglas Swirsky chief financial officer, treasurer, and corporate secretary. He replaces Jeffrey Church, who left the biopharmaceutical company in August to become CFO at Novavax. Swirsky was most recently a managing director and head of life sciences investment banking at Stifel Nicolaus.
• Cypress Software Systems has named Rachel Ryan senior vice president of professional services and chief financial officer. Previously, Ryan held several commercial risk management and commercial lending positions at Citigroup. She also has worked as CFO for Cypress on a part-time basis since the company was formed in 2000.
• Langer has appointed Sara Cormack vice president and chief financial officer. A former accountant at Deloitte & Touche, Cormack joins Langer from PG&E Corp., where she served in a variety of accounting and finance roles. Her predecessor, Joseph Ciavarella, will stay with Langer during the transition period.
• VF Jeanswear has named D. Paul Dascoli chief financial officer. He succeeds Mark Thoma, who is retiring after 33 years with the company. Dascoli most recently served as executive vice president and CFO for Thomasville Furniture Industries and previously, vice president of financial operations for Revlon.
• Deluxe Corp. has hired Richard Greene as chief financial officer, effective October 2. He succeeds Terry Peterson, who has been serving as interim CFO since May. Greene previously served as finance chief at Covalence Specialty Materials, Tyco Plastics, and Covalence Specialty Materials.
• H3Enterprises has announced that Steven Staehr is its new chief financial officer. He most recently served as corporate controller for Cash Systems, and he worked at Encore Productions as CFO.
• Newpark Resources has named James Braun vice president and chief financial officer, effective October 11. Eric Wingerter, who was the acting CFO, will return to his role as vice president and chief accounting officer. Braun has served as vice president of finance for Baker Oil Tools, vice president of finance and administration of Baker Petrolite, and vice president and controller of Baker Hughes.
• FBO Air has named Keith Bleier as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Before joining the aviation services company, Bleier was principal for Bonadio & Co. and the principal accounting and financial officer for Montana Mills Bread.
• Church & Dwight Co. has elected Matthew Farrell vice president of finance and chief financial officer. He replaces Zvi Eiref, who will retire after serving as the manufacturer’s CFO for 20 years. Farrell has served as executive vice president and CFO of Alpharma, vice president of investor relations and communications for Ingersoll-Rand, and vice president and CFO of AlliedSignal’s specialty chemicals unit.
• Rexnord has named George Moore chief financial officer. He replaces Tom Jansen, who served as CFO for 25 years. Moore was most recently executive vice president and CFO for Maytag. He also was the CFO, and later the president, of Yield House.
