• William W. Veazey was named senior vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer of Cargill Inc., a provider of food, agricultural, and risk management products and services that is the largest privately held company in the United States, according to Forbes. Veazey most recently served as corporate vice president of finance, in which he led controller, treasury, pension trust, insurance, and various risk management activities.
He succeeds Robert L. Lumpkins, who served as CFO since 1989. Lumpkins retains his positions as vice chairman and a member of the board of directors.
• The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. named Marc O. Voorhees vice president of finance for North America. Most recently, Voorhees served in Geneva as the European operations manager for the Digital and Film Imaging Systems division of Eastman Kodak Co.; in his 28 years at Kodak, he has also served in a number of group senior finance roles. At Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear, Voorhees will report to chief financial officer Richard J. Kramer.
• Andrx Corp., a manufacturer of generic drugs, announced that chief financial officer John Hanson has resigned. The Fort Lauderdale-based company gave no reason for his departure. Hanson, who joined Andrx in April 2003 and became CFO in February 2004, has also held the top finance job at Mylan Laboratories Inc. and Zenith-Goldline Pharmaceuticals. At Andrx, president Angelo C. Malahias will assume the additional role of chief financial officer on an interim basis; he served as finance chief from 1996 to 2004.
• Cellulose-fiber manufacturer Rayonier named Carl E. Kraus senior vice president of finance and chief investment officer of the Jacksonville, Florida-based company’s real estate subsidiary, TerraPointe. Previously, Kraus was senior vice president and chief financial officer at Kramont Realty Trust in Plymouth, Pennsylvania; earlier, he held similar positions with Philips International Realty Corp.
• Greif Inc., a Delaware, Ohio-based manufacturer of industrial packaging, announced a reorganization of its finance department. Vice president and chief information officer Ken Andre will take on the additional role of corporate controller; he takes over for John Dieker, who will become vice president and treasurer. In addition, vice president and treasurer Rob Zimmerman will become vice president of corporate business development. The changes are effective January 1.
• Dallas-based retail chain The Container Store named Sharon Ellis chief financial officer. Most recently, she was a senior vice president of commercial banking at J.P. Morgan Chase; earlier, she served as a vice president at Bank of Texas and at Bank of America. Ellis takes over for Stefan Ferm, who also served as the company’s executive vice president of international operations and as the chief executive officer of Elfa, a wholly owned subsidiary that markets wire-shelving systems.
• Las Vegas-based Citadel Broadcasting Corp. named Patricia Stratford acting chief financial officer. Stratford joined the radio broadcaster in 2003 after 11 years at Infinity Broadcasting Corp., where she worked in several positions including vice president of taxation.
• Harte-Hanks Inc., a San Antonio-based marketing company, promoted Gregory Snyder to the position of vice president of finance. Snyder was in a similar role at The Flyer, where he played a key role in its 2005 acquisition by Harte-Hanks.
• Natural-resource utility Headwaters Inc. announced that Steven G. Stewart, chief financial officer since 1998, is retiring. He’ll step down as finance chief on October 1 but continue as treasurer through mid-2006. The South Jordan, Utah-based company also announced that it has hired Scott K. Sorensen as CFO; most recently, he was vice president and CFO for Hillenbrand Industries.
• Donald Frederick resigned as chief financial officer of ClearOne Communications Inc., a Salt Lake City-based provider of conferencing products. Corporate controller Craig Peeples, who was appointed interim CFO, has previously served as director of compliance and audits at TCBY, controller at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands, and vice president and corporate controller for TenFold Corp.
• Darrel Slack resigned as chief financial officer of semiconductor software maker Silicon Image Inc. In August, the Sunnyvale, California-based company appointed Robert R. Freeman interim CFO while Slack took a six-week personal leave of absence.
