• Broadband communications company Charter Communications Inc. tapped a former Delta Airlines executive as its chief financial officer. Jeffrey T. Fisher was named executive vice president and CFO of the St. Louis-based company, effective February 6. Fisher has held a number of executive positions at Delta, most recently as senior vice president overseeing the company’s corporate restructuring group. At Charter, he succeeds interim CFO Paul E. Martin, who will continue to serve as senior vice president and controller until at least March 31.
• Media company Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. terminated the employment of chief financial officer Brian D. Urban, effective January 18; his contract was due to expire June 30. No reason was given. Chief executive officer Rich Battista is filling in as acting CFO.
• Lyons Gray was sworn in January 22 as the chief financial officer of the Environmental Protection Agency, reported The Winston-Salem Journal. Before being nominated last summer by President Bush, Gray spent three years as chairman of the agency’s Environmental Financial Advisory Board. He has also served his home state as a representative in the North Carolina House and a member of its Finance Committee.
• Milanese luxury jeweler Bulgari SpA announced that chief financial officer Ernesto Greco had resigned, effective June 30, to look for new opportunities. Greco has been Bulgari’s finance chief for more than 16 years.
• Broomfield, Colorado-based Corporate Express Inc., a provider of office supplies, named Jeffrey Lasher vice president and controller for Corporate Express North America. Lasher’s career includes a number of senior financial positions; for the past five years he has served as vice president of finance for AutoNation.
• Sealy Mattress Corp. chief financial officer James B. Hirshorn was named to the newly created post of senior executive vice president of finance, operations, and R&D. He was succeeded as executive vice president and CFO by Jeff Ackerman, who joined the Trinity, North Carolina-based company from Dade Behring Inc., where he was vice president of finance.
• Car-parts manufacturer Tenneco Inc. announced that senior vice president and chief financial officer Kenneth R. Trammell was promoted to executive vice president. Trammell has been serving as the Lake Forest, Illinois-based company’s finance chief since 2003.
• Filtration specialist Pall Corp. named Lisa McDermott chief financial officer and treasurer. McDermott joined the East Hills, New York-based company in 1999 as controller and chief accountant before being promoted to vice president of finance and chief accounting officer.
