Ger Dwyer, CFO of Alphabet’s self-driving unit Waymo, is leaving the company this month. His departure comes after the exit of chief executive officer John Krafcik, who was replaced by two co-CEOs. Dwyer started at Google in 2006 and moved over to Waymo in 2016. He led finance for Google’s technical infrastructure and G&A functions and, before that, he built the global business intelligence function for Google’s finance team. Dwyer also has experience in the telecommunication industry, where he previously worked in a range of finance, IT, and analytics roles.
Penske Automotive Group promoted Michelle Hulgrave, the company’s senior vice president and corporate controller, to chief financial officer, effective June 1. Hulgrave joined the transportation company in 2006 as corporate accounting manager and was promoted to vice president and corporate controller in 2015. She was promoted again to senior vice president in February 2020. Before joining Penske, Hulgrave held various positions for DaimlerChrysler Financial and Ernst & Young. Hulgrave replaces J.D. Carlson, who is retiring.
Dine Brands, the parent company of Applebee’s and IHOP restaurants, named Vance Chang as finance chief, effective June 14. Most recently, Chang was chief financial officer for Exer Urgent Care. Before that, he was CFO at YogaWorks. He has previously worked at Pressed Juicery, Moelis & Company, Oracle, and Deloitte & Touche. Chang takes over for interim CFO Allison Hall, who has been appointed senior vice president and chief accounting officer.
Matt Gustke, CFO at The RealReal, is leaving the online luxury consignment company after eight years. Gustke will continue to serve as CFO until his departure, which is expected at the end of the year, or until a successor is found. Gustke will assist in the transition to his successor. The RealReal’s search for a new CFO is underway.
OPAL Fuels hired Ann Anthony as its new CFO. Most recently, Anthony was CFO for large-scale battery energy storage company Key Capture Energy. Before that, she served as vice president, treasurer, and corporate secretary for South Jersey Industries, a $2.5 billion public energy services holding company, where she progressively increased her responsibilities over eleven years.
Oil and natural gas company Callon Petroleum appointed Kevin Haggard as CFO. Most recently, he served as vice president and treasurer at Noble Energy. Before joining Noble Energy in 2016, Haggard was vice president of finance and treasurer of Trinity River Energy and held the same position at HighMount Exploration and Production. Before that, he served as chief financial officer of SunCap Financial and as an investment banker with Credit Suisse.
Doximity, an online networking service for medical professionals, promoted Anna Bryson to chief financial officer. Bryson was previously the company’s vice president of strategic finance and financial planning and analysis. Bryson joined Doximity from investment advisory firm ACB Capital, where she was the founder and CEO. Before that, she was a bond trader at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Andrew Oh joined software company ThoughtExchange as its finance chief. Oh has 20 years of financial and accounting experience advising private equity and corporate buyers on mergers and acquisitions. Before ThoughtExchange, Oh was vice president at InvestX Capital, where he worked with pre–IPO companies. Oh has also served as interim chief operating officer and director of finance at online dating platform Plenty of Fish, vice president of finance at QuickMobile, and as senior manager with Deloitte’s M&A practice.
David Bertolino has joined retail software company Aptos as CFO. Bertolino was previously finance chief at B2B sales firm N3, and before that, he held various financial leadership roles at Verint Systems. He joined Verint Systems through its acquisition of Witness Systems, where he was vice president corporate controller. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions at Siemens and KPMG.
Agricultural technology company TeleSense hired Betty Kayton as its new chief financial officer. Throughout her 25-year career in financial management, Kayton has served as CFO at Dropbox, Dropcam, Neato Robotics, Vuclip, Viki, and AngelList. She has also held senior positions at Fortune 500 companies including Citicorp and Fujitsu.
New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG) appointed John Dalby as the Bitcoin financial services firm’s CFO. Dalby, who was most recently chief financial officer of Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund, brings more than 20 years of experience in capital markets, asset management, and financial services to the firm. Before joining Bridgewater in 2018, he was chief financial officer and chief operating officer of D.E. Shaw Renewables Investments and the CFO of UBS Americas before that.
