Chris Kuhns

Chris Kuhns was named CFO at Iris Telehealth. Kuhns was previously senior vice president of finance at Vituity, where he led financial planning and analysis, operational finance, and corporate development teams. Before that, he was director of corporate strategy and development for Omnicell, a pharmacy automation technology provider. He architected and led some of Omnicell’s largest business acquisitions, helping drive an 80% total increase in revenues during his tenure.

Loop Media hired Neil Watanabe as the streaming music platform’s chief financial officer. Watanabe was most recently principal of Watanabe Associates, where he provided senior financial and accounting leadership to companies, including Value Village and High Times Holding. Watanabe has previously served as chief financial officer of, PetSmart, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas, Shoe Pavilion, and Mac Frugal’s Bargain Closeout. He previously held chief operating officer roles of National Stores, Motherhood Maternity, and Sears Health and Nutrition. Watanabe is currently a Board member of the National Corvette Museum and Reality Venture International. He succeeds Jim Cerna, who was appointed to head of strategy.

Marc Zenner

SaaS-based climate platform Persefoni hired Marc Zenner as finance chief. Zenner was previously global co-head of corporate finance advisory at J.P. Morgan. Before that, he worked at Citigroup, where he was a managing director and global head of the financial strategy group and as managing director and North America head of the financial markets advisory group. Before his 17-year career in investment banking, he was a professor of finance and chair of the finance area at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since retiring from J.P. Morgan, he has spent his time serving on boards, advising startups, and serving as an expert witness.

Payment technology company CPI Card Group appointed Amintore Schenkel as CFO. Before leading his own consulting business, Schenkel was senior vice president, chief accounting officer, and controller of Western Union from 2006 to 2020. He also held a variety of financial roles at First Data Corporation and was with Ernst & Young for 12 years. Schenkel takes over for John Lowe, who has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager of CPI’s secure card business.

Palmer Brown

Compass Group promoted Palmer Brown to finance chief of the world’s largest catering company. Brown is currently the company’s group commercial director and previously served as interim CFO from 2018 to 2019. He joined the food service company in 2001 and has held several senior finance, strategy, and legal positions. Brown replaces Karen Witts, who is stepping down at the end of the month. 

Ari Fischel has joined Capital Rx as its new CFO. Fischel was most recently vice president of finance and accounting for health insurance company Oscar Health. During his five-year tenure at Oscar, he helped lay the groundwork for the company’s March 2021 initial public offering as its controller leading the accounting team, driving company operating results and metrics, leading the annual planning process, managing financial projections, and forecasting. Before Oscar Health, he served in senior finance and leadership roles for The Nielsen Company and General Electric.

Kristen Norris

IT services provider Executech promoted Kristen Norris to chief financial officer. Norris Norris joined the company two years ago as part of the acquisition of DSA Technologies, where she was employed for 4 years. Since joining, she has worked closely with the accounting and finance functions across Executech and its subsidiary brands. Before that, she worked across accounting, finance, and HR functions at DSA. She previously spent 10 years in roles that included client relations, account operations, and financial consulting. 

Smith Micro Software appointed James Kempton as its new CFO, effective November 3. Kempton joins the company from L.B. Foster Company, where he serves as corporate controller and principal accounting officer. Before joining L.B. Foster in February 2020, Kempton was executive vice president and CFO at Caliburn International. Before that, he held successive executive leadership positions at Michael Baker International and Michael Baker Corporation. He began his career with Ernst and Young.

Lalit Kumar

Software company Versa Networks appointed Lalit Kumar as its first chief financial officer. Most recently, he worked at software company Medallia, where he led its IPO and helped double revenue in his three years there. Before that, Kumar led NetSuite through transformative growth with annual reoccurring revenue doubling to more than $1 billion and ultimately to a buyout by Oracle. Early in his career, he spent nearly 10 years at Dell, where he led the company through a period of rapid growth and significant IT landscape transformation.

Gaston Tano will step down as Shawcor’s CFO in May 2022. Tano joined the Canadian oilfield services company in September 2016 as vice president of finance and became chief financial officer in May 2017. The company hired Thomas Holloway as vice president and chief accounting officer, effective December 1. Holloway is expected to succeed Tano.
