The finance and human resources functions rarely see eye to eye, and that appears to hold true when it comes to mergers and acquisitions. In a new report from CFO Research Services (in collaboration with Aon Consulting), senior finance executives and their HR counterparts had diverging opinions on the value of HR’s participation in M&A activities — or even the degree to which HR could be said to be involved at all. But the two functions did largely agree on two things: that managing the HR aspect of deals plays an important role in deriving maximum value from the transactions, and that there is room for improvement across a range of important human-capital and corporate-culture issues as they relate to successful M&A activities.
