Levi-Strauss & Co. CFO Hans Ploos van Amstel announced he would resign to pursue other opportunities. The jeans maker’s controller, Heidi Manes, will take over the position temporarily. Van Amstel, who arrived at the company in 2003 and has been CFO since 2005, will remain as a consultant for the next few months.
Following the recent retirement of CFO Robert Schiffner, Campbell’s Soup has appointed B. Craign Owens as its CFO and chief administrative officer, starting October 6. Owens formerly was CFO of the Belgian food retailer Delhaize Group. Schiffner will continue to aid the company in its transition before his official retirement date in January.
Border control solutions company Acme Packet Inc. has appointed Peter Minihane treasurer and CFO, overseeing accounting, finance, and investor relations. Minihane joins the Burlington, Mass.-based company from Colubris Networks, where he was CFO. Keith Seidman, Acme’s former finance chief, had announced last February that he would retire.
Gordon Parnell will retire from as CFO and vice president of Microchip Technology Inc. by December 31, the company announced. Parnell has been with Microship since 1989 and took over the top finance job in 2000. Replacing him will be J. Eric Bjornholt currently vice president of finance and corporate secretary, who joined the company in 1995.
FairPoint Communications Inc. has hired Alfred Giammarino to succeed John Crowley as CFO. Crowley resigned in August to take a position at an international finance firm. Giammarino’s résumé includes a three-year stint as CFO of Verizon Communications Inc.’s international and information services group. He also worked for 15 years at GTE Corporation.
At Idearc Inc., Samuel Jones has been promoted from acting CFO and vice president of investor relations to executive vice president, CFO, and treasurer. The move was part of a reorganization of the multi-platform of advertising company’s executive management team.
The internet media company Internet Brands Inc. has appointed Scott Friedman as its CFO. Friedman joins the Los Angeles-based company from WPT Enterprises, where he was also CFO. His additional experience includes a position as controller of Sony Pictures Digital and numerous accounting and finance roles at the Walt Disney Company.
Joe Ragan has resigned as CFO of GTSI Corp. to take over the finance reins at Boart Longyear. Replacing him at GSTI is Peter Whitfield, who most recently led the company’s financial planning, analysis, and internal audit functions.
John Mueller has been named CFO of The Knot Inc., the parent company of the wedding information website The Knot. Most recently Mueller was CFO of Genius Products, a film and documentary company. He replaces The Knot’s nine-year CFO, Richard Szefc.
Tullow Oil has appointed Ian Springett to replace Tom Hickey as CFO. Springett has worked at BP for 23 years, including a stint as CFO of its Americas operations and upstream projects.
Nordea, the Scandinavian financial services group, has appointed former Electrolux CFO Fredrik Rystedt to replace Arne Liljedahl as CFO.
Thomas Metzger, CFO of Feldschlossen brewery, the Swiss subsidiary of Carlsberg, has been promoted to CEO, replacing Thomas Amstutz, who will move to Carlsberg’s newly acquired Kronenbourg subsidiary.
Hannu Ryöppönen is stepping down as deputy chief executive and CFO of Stora Enso. He will be replaced on October 1 by Markus Rauramo, currently group treasurer.
