Former Freddie Mac CFO Anthony “Buddy” Piszel has been named CFO and treasurer of The First American Corporation, where he’ll oversee financial reporting, capital markets activities and investor relations. Piszel was fired from Freddie when the Federal Housing Finance Agency took over last fall.
Nirmal Tripathy, CFO of Framingham, Mass.-based retailer TJX Companies, has resigned . The company’s chief administrative officer, Jeffrey Naylor, will take on the position in addition to his current duties. Naylor previously served as CFO from 2004 to 2007, when Tripathy took over.
Kevin Harris is the new CFO of CyberDefender Corp., effective immediately. Most recently Harris was chief operating officer of Statmon Technologies, from 2004 to 2008. He was also senior vice president of finance for RKO Pictures, LLC.
Commercial Collection Bureau has named Cody Ayres as its CFO. Ayres previously spent four years heading finance at the Grocery Shopping Network.
Peter Thompson has been named CFO, treasurer, and strategic planning officer of Schweitzer-Mauduit International, which produces fine paper for the tobacco industry. Thompson, who was the company’s finance chief from August 2006 to August 2008, had been serving as president of U.S. operations since August.
Bruce Besanko, CFO of Circuit City, which is liquidating, will take the same post at OfficeMax starting February 16. Besanko headed finance for the electronics retailer since 2007 and previously was CFO and senior vice president of finance for The Yankee Candle Company.
Neal Petrovich will join Hampton Roads Bankshares as CFO on February 17. Petrovich has run finance for American National Bankshares since 2004 and did so for Bank of Tidewater from 1998 to 2002.
Kennebunk Savings Bank has named Stephen Soubble CFO. Soubble has been with the bank since 2002, when he started as the asset/liability, investments, and deposit manager.
Sharon Doherty has been named chief financial officer of Integrated Security Systems. She had been CFO of Selkirk Americas, where she also served as controller.
GenCorp has promoted its acting CFO Kathleen Redd to the position permanently. Redd took over as CFO and controller in October when the technology company’s finance chief Yasmin Seyal and controller Leon Blackburn resigned. Previously vice president of finance, she has been with the company since 2002.
David Sachs has been named CFO of the high-speed Internet company Clearwire, starting February 2. Sachs most recently served as CFO of Millicom International Cellular, a wireless telecommunications company that offers services in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. He also served as chief accounting officer and senior vice president of finance at the Dutch telecommunications firm Equant NV.
The Iowa City, Iowa-based company Asoyia has named Bob George as CFO. George joined the soybean seed and oil company on January 19 after a four-year stint as director of finance with West Liberty Foods.
Tesco promoted Laurie McIlwee to finance director, succeeding Andrew Higginson. who will become the U.K. supermarket group’s retailing services division. McIlwee joined Tesco as U.K. finance director in 2000 and became distribution director in 2005. He has also worked for PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, and Walkers Snack Foods.
3i surprisingly replaced chief executive Philip Yea with Michael Queen. Yea, former finance director at Diageo, joined the private-equity company from buyout firm Investcorp in 2004. Queen, currently managing partner of 3i’s infrastructure funds, was also a former finance director of the group and was a contender for the chief executive job four years ago before Yea got the job.
Continental AG, recently acquired by ball-bearing maker Schaeffler, named Gerard Cordonnier as interim CFO until a permanent successor is found for Alan Hippe, who resigned from the German car-parts maker. Cordonnier will assume the role on March 1 in addition to his present function as head of finance and controller of the company’s interior division.
Network Rail has appointment Patrick Butcher as its finance director. Butcher will take over on April 20 from Ron Henderson, who recently announced his retirement. Butcher has previously served as finance director at English Welsh and Scottish Railway (now DB Schenker), Mapeley, and London Underground.
German press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer will hand its financial remit to Helge Hansen, who has been managing director of Metronic (now KBA-Metronic) since 2003 and restructured the company following its acquisition by KBA in 2004.
De La Rue group finance director Stephen King has decided to leave the currency and security document maker on March 31. Simon Webb has been appointed to succeed him, moving over from kitchen-equipment group Enodis, where he has been deputy CFO since 2007.
