CFOs on the Move: Week Ending April 11

• Qwest Communications CFO John Richardson will leave his post after just a year, becoming the latest executive to depart under Ed Mueller, the firm’s new chief executive, who joined last August. Richardson will stay on until a replacement is found.

• VeriSign has announced that its CFO, Albert Clement, and controller Debbie Tuck have ended their roles with the Mountain View, Calif.-based company. Senior vice president Brian Robins will oversee the finances for the time being.

• Mark Biderman, executive vice president and chief financial officer of National Financial Partners Corp., has been promoted to the newly created position of vice chairman. The company is searching for a new CFO.

• Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has appointed Ron Kolker as senior vice president and CFO of the company and its U.S. subsidiary, Taro Pharmaceuticals U.S.A. Kolker has been with Taro since 1994 in various finance functions. He served as interim CFO for part of 2007 and most recently held the positions of controller and vice president.

• The finance chief who oversees the Nebraska Winnebago Tribe’s $113 million business has stepped down from his duties. Don McEntaffer’s resignation from Ho-Chunk Inc. comes after a recent controversy surrounding one of the company’s financial reviews. Ho-Chunk’s chief operating officer, Annette Hamilton, will serve as acting CFO until a replacement is named.

• Daniel Liu will replace Herman Zhao, who is retiring as finance chief of solar cell manufacturer JA Solar Holdings. Liu was most recently CFO for PacificNet Inc., where he’s served since early 2007.

• Reno, Nev.-based Altair Nanotechnologies Inc. has replaced its finance chief with former CFO of Alloptic John Fallini. He joins the company just two months after the CEO resigned following a $31.5 million revenue loss. Former CFO Edward Dickinson will move to the newly created position of senior director of programs and contracts.

• Michael Januzik will move from his current finance chief role at the California Endowment to become CFO of the $790 million philanthropy the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles. Januzik has been working in the nonprofit sector since 2004. Before that, he spent 12 years in financial management and investor relations at Pacific Telesis Group.

• Retailer Tuesday Morning Corp. has promoted Stephanie Bowman as its CFO and executive vice president. She will manage the company’s finances and also oversee investor relations, treasury, corporate tax, and human resources. Bowman served as vice president of finance at Tuesday Morning for the past two years.

• Judy Test will be the next CFO of Seapine Software. She was manager of accounting at Seapine for three years. She previously held financial management roles at The Future Now, The Vaughn Group, McGraw/Kokosing, and Best Express Foods.

• Middle-market investment firm Focus LLC has named Frank Slacik as its new chief financial officer. Slacik formerly served as CFO of JMP Securities. He was also controller for Citibank in Prague and worked in financial management at the retail, international, and corporate banking arms of Bank of America.

• Omego LLC has announced that Antonio Nunes will lead the firm’s global finance, business information systems, vendor management, and facilities teams as CFO. Nunes has been CFO at Albridge Solutions Inc., Aleri Inc. and Princeton Financial Systems.

• U.K. health-care company BUPA has announced that CEO Val Gooding will retire this year. Ray King, finance director since 2001, will succeed Gooding when she steps down in May.

• Arne Liljedahl, CFO of Nordea Bank, is due to leave the Stockholm-based company as part of a management overhaul. His successor will be announced soon.

• U.K. television broadcaster BSkyB has named Andrew Griffith FD. Currently, Griffith serves as the director of group finance, M&A, and investor relations. He will replace Jeremy Darroch, who has been promoted to CEO.

• British floor coverings retailer Carpetright has appointed Neil Page as group FD. Page is currently finance and IT director of AS Watson UK, which includes business segments Superdrug and Savers. The company plans to announce Page’s replacement shortly.

• Swedish telecom firm TeliaSonera has announced that CFO Kim Ignatius will leave the company to take the top finance position at Finland’s largest media group, Sanoma WSOY. Ignatius will take over from Matti Salmi, who retires from the company this summer. TeliaSonera is looking for a new CFO.

• WWF International has announced that Chiew Y. Chong, director of finance and administration, will move to the new position of managing director at the Living Planet Fund Management Co. A search for Chong’s successor is in progress.
