Russell Fong has been named acting CFO of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (Calpers), a newly created post. Fong, who joined the public pension fund in 2005, is now interim assistant executive officer of the organization’s administrative services branch.
Hearst Magazines International, a division of Hearst Corp., has named Simon Horne CFO and general manager. Previously, he held those posts at The National Magazine Co., a subsidiary of Hearst in Great Britain.
Distributor MSC Industrial Direct Co. has appointed Jeffrey Kaczka to lead the finance function, effective April 8. He takes over from Charles Boehike, who is retiring but will stay on as a senior adviser during the transition period. Kaczka is a former CFO, international, of Genworth Financial Inc.
Silicon Laboratories Inc. has promoted Paul Walsh to the top finance spot, effective July 3. He will succeed Bill Bock, who is leaving that post but will stay on as senior vice president through year’s end. Walsh has been at the integrated-circuit developer since 2004, and is now chief accounting officer and vice president of finance.
Landscape-maintenance equipment firm The Toro Co. has announced that CFO and vice president of finance Steve Wolfe will retire in July. He has been at the company since 1986 and was named to the top finance spot in 1997. A search is under way for his replacement.
Roger Carlile has been promoted to finance chief of FTI Consulting Inc., succeeding David Bannister, who has been elected chairman of the North American region. Carlile had been chief administrative officer.
LED lighting company Intematix has selected Maurice Carson as its first CFO. He joins the company from Actel, where he also served as CFO.
Jaspersoft Corp., a business-intelligence software maker, has named Jim Johnson CFO and senior vice president of finance & operations. He is a former finance chief of MSC Software.
Timothy Trost has been named to lead the finance function at pharmaceutical company Chimerix Inc. Most recently, he was CFO at Argos Therapeutics Inc.
