CFOs on the Move: Week Ending February 11

Timothy Sloan has been promoted to finance chief at Wells Fargo & Co. He takes over immediately from Howard Atkins, who will retire in August after an unpaid leave of absence. Sloan had been chief administrative officer.

American Apparel Inc. has named John Luttrell to lead the finance function; his predecessor, Adrian Kowalewski, will become executive vice president, corporate strategy. Luttrell is a former CFO of Old Navy Inc.

Biopharmaceutical firm Affymax Inc. has promoted vice president of finance and chief accounting officer Herb Cross to the top finance spot, effective March 4. He succeeds Paul Cleveland, who is resigning from the company.

Jeffrey Sawyers has been named CFO and treasurer of Sanswire Corp., a developer of unmanned aerial vehicles. Previously, he was corporate controller at restaurant chain Tijuana Flats.

Chief financial and administrative officer Randy Pearce has been promoted to president of Regis Corp., a beauty-salon franchiser and owner. In his new role, he takes over from Paul Finkelstein, who will continue as CEO and chairman of the board through the rest of the year. Brent Moen, corporate controller and vice president of finance, will succeed Pearce as CFO.

Sungevity has appointed Mac Irvin to the top finance spot. Before joining the residential-solar-installation provider, he was managing director of structured finance and business development at SunPower Corp.

Internet-based health-insurance brokerage Health Plan One LLC has named David Henderson to head finance. He is a former vice president of finance and corporate development at Open Solutions.

Alliant Energy Corp. has promoted CFO Patricia Kampling to the posts of president and chief operating officer. Chief accounting officer and treasurer Thomas Hanson will become CFO and treasurer at the company.

Terry Murphy, finance chief at water-heater and electric-motor manufacturer A. O. Smith Corp., will retire on May 1. He will be replaced at that time by John Kita, currently the firm’s controller and senior vice president-corporate finance.

Dynamic Aviation has named Roger Franklin to lead the finance function. He succeeds Merle Zook, who will become executive vice president. Previously, Franklin was CFO and corporate secretary of Quest Aircraft Co.
