• After a 14-month stint as CFO and executive vice president, W. Mark Schmitz has decided to leave his position at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company to pursue other interests. Replacing him as CFO is Darren Wells, who was vice president of finance and strategy. Wells joined Goodyear six years ago as vice president and treasurer. He came from Visteon Corp., where was assistant treasurer.
• The e-mail encryption company Zix Corporation has appointed Susan Conner as its CFO. Conner, who replaces acting CFO Barry Wilson, took on the position October 16. She comes from NASDAQ-listed Pegasus Solutions, where she served as CFO and executive vice president. Wilson, who has been acting CFO and treasurer for almost three years, will remain with the company as treasurer and vice president of accounting and finance.
• SunPower Corp. has named Dennis Arriola as its senior vice president and CFO. Arriola is the former CFO and senior vice president at San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Co. He also spent 14 years at Sempra Energy, where he was vice president of communications and investor relations as well as regional president and general manager of South American operations.
• The software solutions company Shavlik Technologies has appointed Dan Kinsella as its CFO. Kinsella comes from a CFO post at Gearworks Inc., a “software as a service” company. Before that he was the CFO of Datalink Corporation.
• Charles Rowland has been appointed vice president and CFO of ViroPharma Inc. He had been CFO, executive vice president and treasurer of Endo, where he worked for two years. He was also CFO of Biovail Pharmaceuticals, and COO and CFO of Breakaway Technologies.
• A month after the Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary MidAmerican Energy holdings bought Constellation Energy, the company has appointed Jonathan Thayer as its CFO. He replaces John Collins, who stepped down and will serve as an advisor to assist with the integreation of the two companies. Thayer was most recently vice president and managing director of corporate strategy and development at Constellation, where he’d worked since 2004.
• Valter Calamita will replace Jeremy Brown as CFO of Haggin Marketing Inc. Most recently Calamita was senior vice president and CFO of DDB Chicago, an advertising agency owned by Omnicom. Previously headed finance at three DDB owned companies: Tribal, Matrix, and Downtown Partners.
• New York & Company CFO and president Ron Ristau has left the clothing retailer and will be replaced by chief accounting officer Sheamus Toal, who has been with the company since November 2004 including roles as treasurer and controller.
• Vaalco Energy has promoted its CFO, W. Russell Scheirman, to chief operating officer. Scheirman will be replaced by Gregory Hullinger, who most recently served as global finance implementation manager for a enterprise-wide records management initiative at Shell Oil. He previously was Shell’s corporate finance manager, controller, and treasurer, and CFO of Shell Deer Park Refining Company.
• Tom Cronan will oversee finance at Redwood City, Calif.-based AeroScout. Most recently Cronan served as the finance chief for Redback Networks, before it was sold to Ericsson in 2007 for $2.1 billion.
