• Novell has named Dana Russell interim chief financial officer. He replaces Joseph Tibbetts, who the board terminated earlier this month. Russell joined Novell in 1994 and has served as a vice president of finance, corporate controller, and most recently treasurer.
• Todd Shipyards has appointed Berger Dodge treasurer and chief financial officer. He replaces Scott Wiscomb who has retired. Dodge has been with the company since 2003, serving most recently as manager of planning and financial analysis. Prior to joining Todd, Dodge worked as a senior associate with a private investment firm in Washington, and has worked with Tower Group International.
• Patrick Goulding has joined GoldenTree InSite Partners as the real estate investment firm’s new chief financial officer. Most recently, Goulding was a director and head of portfolio finance for ING Clarion. He also served as CFO of its flagship real estate fund, Clarion Lion Properties Fund.
• Allied Healthcare International has named Paul Weston interim chief financial officer. He succeeds Charles Murphy, who has resigned. Weston was the financial director for the company’s U.K. operation . Prior to that, he was group financial controller at SSL plc. He also held several corporate finance positions for the European operations of Fruit of the Loom. Allied Healthcare is a staffing services company.
• Proxy Aviation Systems has hired Chris Hamilton to be the aircraft company’s new executive vice president and chief financial officer. Hamilton comes to Proxy Aviation from Thales Communications where he was the senior vice president and CFO. Before that, he was finance chief for Telecommunications Techniques, now a division of JDSU.
• Electronics retailer Tweeter Home Entertainment Group has tapped Greg Hunt to become senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective August 1. Most recently, Hunt served as co-chief executive officer, director, and CFO for Syratech, as well as finance chief for NRT, Culligan Water Technologies, Astrum International, and Auburndale Properties. Hunt began his career as an auditor for Price Waterhouse.
• Touchstone Applied Science Associates has named James Williams to the newly created position of chief financial officer. He replaces Andrew Simons who will continue in his role as CEO of the consulting services firm. Williams held senior financial and operational roles at Tech Depot, a subsidiary of Office Depot. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer for 4SURE.com. He also held senior financial positions within Daymon Associates and Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey.
• Pathfire has appointed Steven Russell chief financial officer. Russell joins the digital content distribution company after serving as CFO of LogistiCare. He was also finance chief for Florida Digital Network, and vice president and international treasurer for Lucent Technologies. Russell worked with Seagram on its acquisition and integration of Universal. Additionally he served several years as an officer with the U.S. Army.
• Stelco has hired J. Kenneth Rutherford to be the steel company’s new chief financial officer, effective August 1. Most recently, Rutherford was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Cushman and Wakefield LePage.
• David Shapland has joined Specialty Foods Group, the operating company of the Specialty Food Group Income Fund, as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He replaces William Nanovsky who resigned as interim CFO. Previously, Sahpland was senior vice president, CFO, and chief information officer of Bush Brothers. He also served as vice president, finance and strategic planning for Sara Lee and Bryan Foods, as well as director, financial planning and analysis for GE Appliances.
• Steel Technologies has appointed Roger Shannon chief financial officer and treasurer. Shannon previously was employed with Brown-Forman, most recently as assistant treasurer. He has held various financial positions with Vulcan Materials, Lexmark International, and Brown and Williamson Tobacco. He began his career with auditing firm KPMG Peat Marwick.
• Body armor manufacturer DHB Industries has hired Lawrence Young as chief financial officer. Young is a managing director at turnaround firm AlixPartners. Previously, Young has served as chief executive officer, chief financial officer, and chief restructuring officer for AT&T Latin America. He also served as CFO and CRO of Sunterra. DHB also has named Ryan Esko senior vice president and corporate treasurer, and Mark Thorson senior vice president and corporate controller. Both Esko and Thorson are AlixPartners specialists. Esko served as the corporate treasurer of Foster Wheeler, and held financial positions at Refco, Quality Stores, and RCN during their restructuring periods. Thorson was controller of a Zenith Electronics division.
