Vying for Viacom?

Richard Bressler leaves AOL-Time Warner and is in the running for the Viacom CFO post.

  • Changing Channels: AOL Time Warner Inc. announced that its head of investments Richard Bressler is leaving the Dulles, Va.- based Internet and media company. Bressler’s departure is the first by a Time Warner executive since America Online completed its $106.2 billion purchase of the company in January. He was CFO at Time Warner before the deal closed. After the merger, several top AOL executives were named to high-level posts, including Mike Kelly, who was CFO at AOL and currently holds the same position at the combined company. In the interim, AOL Time Warner vice chairman, Ken Novak, will act as investment head. Bressler is now a top candidate for the CFO job at media giant Viacom Inc.
  • Getting With the Program: Classic Communications Inc., a Tyler, Tex.-based cable television operator, named Jimmie Taylor CFO. Taylor, who previously served as the CFO of TCA Cable TV, replaces John Geisler, who has held the position on an interim basis since December.
  • Gilding the Lilly: University Avenue Financial Corp. named Suzanne Lilly as CFO of the Vancouver-based financial services company, replacing John Loeprich. Lilly joins the company from a consultancy she founded, which serves the mutual fund industry.
  • High Energy: Ensource Energy Services Co., a Canadian energy services company in named George Crookshank as CFO. Most recently, Crookshank held the role of CFO and VP of finance for Newport Petroleum Corp. Crookshank replaces J. Ian Bootle, who announced that he would not renew his contract with the Calgary, Alberta-based firm. His contract expires at the end of March.
