- Rest Assured: Indianapolis-based insurer Conseco Inc. announced it hired former Progressive Corp. co-chief executive Charles B. Chokel as CFO. Chokel replaces Tom Hagerty, who was acting CFO for the past eight months. The company said Hagerty will return to his job as a partner at private equity firm Thomas Lee Partners, but will remain on the Conseco board. Chokel, who will be nominated to the Conseco board, spent 23 years at Progressive, a Mayfield Village, Ohio-based auto insurer.
- Michael Glogowsky is definitely a people person. He’s been named acting CFO of PeoplePC Inc., a retailer of subscription-based PC and Internet services. He replaces John Adams, who resigned. The San Francisco-based company said Adams had been on personal leave for some time before leaving.
- The Missing Link: MedSource Technologies Inc., a Minneapolis- based supplier of manufacturing services and supply-chain management solutions to medical device companies, named Joseph Caffarelli SVP and CFO. Caffarelli has worked at Airspan Networks Inc. and Physio-Control International Corp., among others.
- Get a Grip: Houston-based holding and development company, IVG Corp., announced that Patrick Walden has been named CFO. Prior to joining IVG, Walden was a co-founder, principal and managing director of several companies in the mortgage banking, mortgage trading, and investment industries including Aegis Mortgage and Aegis Investment Trust.
- Hanging Up: Franklin Telecommunications Corp., a provider of telephony-equipment and services, said Thomas Russell has resigned as CFO and director. Russell, who joined Westlake Village, Calif.-based Franklin in October 1996, is relocating to another part of the country.
