Campfire, the modern ERP platform built for growing finance teams, today announced the launch of Migration Agent, an AI-powered capability designed to automate one of the most time-consuming parts of switching ERP systems: migrating and validating historical financial data.
Traditional ERP implementations can require weeks or months of manual data preparation, including exporting journal data, restructuring spreadsheets, mapping charts of accounts and dimensions, correcting formatting inconsistencies, and validating balances after the migration is complete. Campfire’s Migration Agent automates much of that work, with general ledger migrations that can be completed in approximately 15 minutes.
Migration Agent moves transaction-level general ledger data into Campfire, including charts of accounts, entities, vendors, departments, journal entries, and historical line-item detail. For companies that prefer a clean cutover, it can also build an opening balance as of a selected date and migrate subsequent activity incrementally.
The agent can connect directly to supported source systems or work from exported files, allowing it to accommodate legacy, customized, and home-built systems. As it processes the data, Migration Agent maps accounts and dimensions into Campfire’s format and identifies potential issues such as duplicate accounts or conflicting mappings.
Human review remains built into the process. Migration Agent does not make ambiguous accounting decisions autonomously; when it encounters an issue requiring judgment, it surfaces the question for review before making changes.
To help teams verify the migration, Campfire automatically generates a reconciliation workbook comparing the old and new systems account by account and month by month. Each figure is supported by formulas tracing back to the customer’s source data, giving finance teams a record they can review internally or provide to auditors.
Campfire also allows prospective customers to test the platform using their own financial data in a secure sandbox environment before committing to a migration. This gives teams the opportunity to evaluate how Campfire handles their specific chart of accounts, dimensions, and historical data rather than relying solely on vendor-provided sample information.
Migration Agent has already been used in customer implementations for several months. Campfire customers typically go live on the platform by their next close, with the automated migration process reducing the data-transfer portion of implementation to one of its shortest steps.
Campfire is a modern ERP platform built to help finance and accounting teams manage their financial operations with greater speed, automation, and visibility. The platform brings core accounting workflows together in a flexible system designed for growing companies.
