Ariba, Ariba!
E-commerce service provider Ariba Inc. got its new CFO from the office-supply closet. It appointed Robert Calderoni to the top finance gig. Calderoni, who was CFO of label- maker Avery Dennison Corp., succeeds Ariba co-founder Edward Kinsey, who plans to retire from the Mountain View, Calif.- based firm after the CFO transition.
- Looks like Robert Messey is getting some coal in his stocking this year. He won’t mind, though. He’s been named SVP and CFO of coal producer Arch Coal Inc.. Messey joins the St. Louis-based company from Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., where he was VP of financial services.
- Keep On Truckin’: Swedish truck-and- bus manufacturer Scania named Jan Gurander as its finance chief. Gurnander, who is now head of the finance business unit of Volvo Group, will begin his new gig in the second quarter of 2001. He has been with Scania before; he held a similar position to his current one at Volvo until December 1999.
- There’s electricity in the air at semiconductor equipment maker Electroglas Inc.. The San Jose, Calif.-based company announced the appointment of Thomas Brunton as CFO. Brunton, former CFO of Centigram Communications Inc., will succeed Armand Stegall, who is retiring. Stegall made $200,000 last year and exercised $424,000 in options.
- Helicopter Helicopter: Providence, R.I.-based aircraft and helicopter maker Textron Inc. named Ted French as CFO. French, who previously served as CFO of agricultural equipment maker CNH Global NV, succeeds Stephen Key, who is retiring from Textron.
- Kevin Seramur wants to show he cares. So he’s joining healthcare-services firm Encounter Care Solutions Inc. as VP and CFO. He joins the Columbia, S.C.-based firm from PSSI World Medical Inc., where he was VP of business development.
