- A Safe Landing: America West Airlines Inc. named Thomas K. MacGillivray as its CFO and SVP of finance. MacGillivray joins the Tempe, Ariz.-based airline from Phoenix, Ariz.-based Central Newspapers Inc., where he was CFO and SVP for seven years.
- A Zaf-hire: Optical networking company Zaffire Inc., appointed Jeffrey D. Lin as its CFO. Lin joins the San Jose, Calif.-based firm from Vulcan Ventures, Microsoft Corp.‘s investment arm, where he directed and managed investments.
- Live It Up: Hans Biorck resigned as CFO and VP of finance of Autoliv Inc., a Swedish supplier of automotive safety systems. Biorck will leave Autoliv in the second quarter to join construction firm Skanska AB. At Skanska, Biorck replaces Anders Nyren, who is leaving to become president of Industrivarden.
- They’ve Outdone Themselves: Research and advisory firm Outsell Inc. named Nick Manolis as its CFO. Before joining the Burlingame, Calif.-based company, Manolis was CFO and COO at Janus Technologies Inc., a software firm in Pittsburgh, Pa.
- Sky’s the Limit: Blue Sky Research appointed Dave Drennan as its CFO and SVP. Drennan joins the San Jose, Calif.-based optical networking company from Tapestry.net, a privately held recruitment services firm, where he was president. Previously, he served for 14 years as VP of corporate development at Seagate Technology LLC, a Scotts Valley, Calif.-based storage hardware company.
