Cargill Inc. has appointed Marcel Smits to lead the finance function, effective April 15. He succeeds president and chief operating officer David MacLennan, who has been interim CFO since November. Smits had been employed at Sara Lee, where he was named CFO in 2009 and CEO in 2011.
