Peter Oppenheimer, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Apple Inc., earned more than $71 million last year, making him one of the highest-paid finance executives.
Oppenheimer received a salary of $615,000 and a bonus of $450,000, which was actually $100,000 less than his bonus in 2005.
By far the biggest source of his earnings last year came from exercising previously granted stock options, amounting to nearly $56 million.
Those sales cleared out all of Oppenheimer’s options, as Apple turned to restricted stock as a favored means of compensation.
In 2006, Oppenheimer received restricted stock valued at more than $14.4 million; his restricted-stock holdings now total more than $34 million.
