• Freddie Mac has named Anthony Piszel executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective November 13. Piszel has served as executive vice president and CFO of Health Net Inc. since August 2004. He has also held senior financial positions at Prudential Financial, including corporate controller, and was CFO of two of its business units.
• Denny’s Corp. has promoted its chief financial officer, Mark Wolfinger, to executive vice president of growth initiatives. In addition to his role as CFO, Wolfinger will be responsible for strategic and alternative delivery initiatives.
• Altera CFO Nathan Sarkisian will retire by the end of this year, a few months earlier than expected. James Callas, currently Altera’s controller, will take over as acting CFO and principal financial and accounting officer. Sarkisian joined Altera in 1992 as corporate controller and was appointed CFO in August 1995. Before joining the company, Sarkisian held various accounting and financial positions at Fairchild and Schlumberger Ltd.
• Carole Argo has resigned from her positions at SafeNet, including acting chief financial officer, following the company’s review of its stock-options-granting practices, according to a SafeNet press release. John Frederick, vice president and worldwide controller, will serve as interim CFO and chief accounting officer. He has more than 20 years experience as a senior financial executive.
• Media company IMG has hired Terri Santisi as executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer, effective November 1. She is currently the CFO of Interpublic Media. Previously she was a partner of KPMG’s Global Media and Entertainment Practice, and she has held senior positions with EMI Group.
• North Broward Hospital District has selected Frank Nask as its new chief financial officer. Since 2000, he has been interim CFO and turnaround consultant for three hospitals in the New York area, and he has served as CFO for a number of Florida health providers, Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
• Software company Axeda Corp. has hired Rachael McCarthy as chief financial officer. Most recently she served as vice president and general counsel of Unica Corp. Previously, McCarthy served in various senior management positions such as vice president of business development, CFO, and general counsel for several companies, including WebHire, Authoria, Interlynx Technology Corp., Nequity Corp., Liquid Software, and RealityWave.
• BearingPoint has named Judy Ethell chief financial officer, effective October 17. She will also serve as the consultancy’s chief accounting officer, a position she has held for the past 15 months. Previously, she served as a tax partner in the St. Louis office of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
• BPL Global has appointed Steven Barto as chief financial officer. Barto has served in several financial executive positions, including stints at Ericsson, Marconi, and Reltec Corp.
• Arbinet-thexchange has appointed John Wynne Jr. as chief financial officer. In addition to serving as Arbinet’s vice president of finance since July, Wynne has held a number of senior financial positions: partner at Tatum’s New York office; CEO and CFO of The PromptCare Cos.; and vice president and CFO of Allied International Healthcare.
• Semiconductor company Tvia Inc. has appointed Keith Yee as its new chief financial officer, replacing Diane Bjorkstrom, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Previously, Yee served as director of finance at Atheros Communications, and he held controller positions with Tripath Technology, Synnex Corp., and Adaptec. Mr. Yee gained international experience working for the London, Hong Kong and San Francisco offices of Ernst & Young and was an Audit Senior Manager with the Price Waterhouse Silicon Valley office.
• Verso Technologies has hired Martin Kidder as its new chief financial officer, effective November 1. Kidder has served as corporate controller of CipherTrust for more than two years. Previously, Kidder was controller of both GE Energy’s Network Reliability and Rentals businesses, as well as controller for Glenayre Technologies. He was also vice president and controller at World Access Inc. Kidder will replace Juliet Reising, who will help him with the transition and assist the company as a consultant.
