• National Lampoon has named its principal accounting officer, Jeff Gonzalez, interim chief financial officer. He replaces Douglas Bennett as CFO of the entertainment company. Bennett also served as the company’s president. Bennett remains affiliated with the company as a board member, advisor to National Lampoon Press, and business development consultant.
• Susan Marks, chief financial officer of Solo Cup, has resigned. She is leaving the food packaging company to pursue other interests. The company has hired executive search firm Heidrick and Struggles to begin a nationwide search to replace Marks.
• Wachovia has appointed Irene Esteves chief financial officer of the company’s Capital Management Group. Esteves succeeds Emile Shahadi who earlier this year announced his intention to retire. Prior to joining Wachovia, Esteves was CFO of Putnam Investments. She also spent 16 years in a variety of finance and business development roles at Miller Brewing and S.C. Johnson and Son.
• Michael Kennedy, former chief financial officer of MasterCard Global Advisors, has joined Marakon Associates as chief financial officer and partner. Kennedy replaces Rob Cleveland who left the management consulting firm to pursue opportunities closer to his home in Connecticut. Prior to his appointment, Kennedy served as CFO of MasterCard Europe, and held three chief financial officer positions at American Express at company’s Southern Europe, European, and Latin American operations. Kennedy also is the former international chief financial officer of John Hancock Financial Services.
• Timothy Barabe has joined Human Genome Sciences as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Most recently, Barabe was CFO at Regent Medical. Prior to that, he served in several senior positions at Novartis, including chief financial officer of the healthcare conglomerate’s Sandoz Generics business unit, president of the CIBA Vision, group vice president and CFO of CIBA Vision, and director of corporate finance at Ciba-Geigy, which was subsequently acquired by Novartis. He also held senior positions at Olin.
• The Siegfried Group has promoted Noelle Sugalski to chief financial officer. Previously, she had served as the accounting service firm’s director of deployment and director of finance. Prior to joining Siegfried, Sugalski was an accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
• ONI Medical Systems has tapped Mark Shooman to be the company’s chief financial officer. Prior to joining the MRI technology company, Shooman served as senior vice president and CFO of Clinical Data. Before that, he was finance chief for several venture funded technology companies.
• Milestone Scientific has selected David Cohn to be the company’s chief financial officer. He succeeds Rosaline Shau who will continue to serve as assistant controller for the company that manufactures anesthetic delivery systems. Most recently, Cohn was controller of Bookazine and Arbee Associates.
• Opsware has promoted David Conte to chief financial officer. He replaces Sharlene Abrams who has resigned from the IT automation company, but will remain with Opsware through October. Conte was the company’s vice president of finance as well as corporate controller. He also has headed Opsware’s treasury and risk management functions and overseen both IT and facilities. He is a former Ernst and Young accountant.
• Synthesis Energy Systems has appointed David Eichinger chief financial officer and senior vice president of corporate development. Eichinger previously served as the director of commercialization for Fuel Cell Development for General Motors. Prior to that he was vice president of corporate development for New Power.
Coffee Pacifica has hired Rhonda Penner-Dunlop as the chief financial officer. Before joining the coffee distribution and marketing company, Penner-Dunlop was controller at Morse Construction Group.
• Middleton Lawn and Pest Control, a subsidiary of Sunair Services, has named Edward Carriero chief financial officer. Prior to joining Middleton, Carriero held several senior positions at Huizenga Holdings, including executive vice president and chief financial officer. He also served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Blue Ribbon Water, and vice president and general manager of Suncoast Helicopters.
