- Replacement named: Viacom, owner of CBS television network, Paramount Pictures and MTV, named former AOL Time Warner Inc. executive Richard Bressler to the chief financial officer post, effective May 1. Bressler, who was previously chief executive of AOL Time Warner Investments, will replace Fredric Reynolds, who was named president of the CBS television stations division. Bressler served as CFO of Time Warner Inc. from March 1995 to June 1999, before becoming chief executive of Time Warner digital media in July 1999. He was one of AOL Time Warner Chief Executive Gerald Levin’s top lieutenants and played a large role in the $106.2 billion merger between AOL and Time Warner.
- Cheers: Scheid Vineyards Inc. promoted controller Mike Thomsen to the CFO post at the Marina Del Rey, Calif.-based wine producer. He succeeds former CFO Heidi Scheid, who will continue as SVP, treasurer, and board member. The company also announced the appointment of Scott D. Scheid as president and COO.
- CFO Ashore: China National Offshore Oil Corp. Ltd., also known as CNOOC, named Mark Qiu Zi-lei SVP and CFO. Before joining the Beijing-based oil and gas company, Qiu Zi-Lei worked as president and CFO of an unspecified E-commerce venture he helped to establish. Prior to that, he worked at a subsidiary of oil company Atlantic Richfield Corp.
- Arthur T. Taylor is bringing some Street cred to Mountain View, Calif.-based Docent Inc. Taylor joins the online-learning infrastructure provider from 3Com Corp., where he was VP of corporate planning and investor relations. He also served a stint as corporate treasurer at the Santa Clara, Calif.-based networking company.
- When you need something from Michael J. Soja, he delivers. That’s why drug-delivery firm Control Delivery Systems named him CFO. Soja joins the Watertown, Mass.-based firm from trailer-leasing company Xtra Corp., where he was VP and CFO for the past 10 years.
