Edward Record has been appointed to the top finance spot at J.C. Penney, effective March 24, replacing Ken Hannah. Record is a former chief operating officer and CFO of Stage Stores, as well as a former senior vice president of finance at Kohl’s.
Revenue and payment cycle management provider Emdeon has named Randy Giles executive vice president, finance. CFO Bob Newport Jr. plans to leave the company following a two-month transition, and Giles will take over as finance chief at that time. Giles joins the company from Coventry Health Care, where he was CFO and treasurer.
William Atkins has been named to lead the finance function at broadband communications software and access systems provider Calix. He succeeds Michael Ashby, who will become an adviser to the company for six months before he retires. Atkins previously was a senior partner at Fairfax Media Partners.
Capitol Music Group has selected Geoff Harris to head finance. Most recently, he was CFO, UK Labels, at Universal Music
Shane Naughton has been appointed finance chief of The Economist Group. He comes to the company from EMI Music, where he also held the top finance spot. (The Economist holds a minority ownership stake in CFO.)
Private-equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners has named Frank Scrudato CFO and chief compliance officer, replacing Pilar Lorente as finance chief. Previously, Scrudato was CFO and principal at Bruckmann, Rosser, Sherrill & Co.
Bob Bearden has been appointed the first CFO of uShip. He has also held the top finance spot at Travelocity.com, Expedia.com global operations, Hotels.com and IntentMedia.com.
Harris Corp. has chosen Miguel Lopez as its next finance chief. He takes over for Gary McArthur, who is leaving the company. Lopez joins the information technology and communications company from Aricent Group, where he was CFO; he also spent many years at IBM, which included serving as CFO for IBM Brazil and Latin America Personal Computers.
Rajesh Asarpota has been named to the top finance spot at Questcor Pharmaceuticals. He succeeds Michael Mulroy, who will become general counsel and executive vice president, strategic affairs. Asarpota was previously vice president, finance, at Life Technologies.
Diversified media firm Journal Communications has promoted Jason Graham to senior vice president of finance and controller, and he will become head of finance when the company files its Form 10-K for 2013. He had been vice president/controller since 2012.
