Michael Bell has been named executive vice president of State Street Corp. and will become finance chief in August upon the retirement of Edward Resch. Bell joins State Street from Manulife Financial Corp., where he also held the top finance spot.

CBS Corp. has promoted Joseph Ianniello to chief operating officer. He had been CFO since 2009.

Publisher John Wiley & Sons Inc. has appointed John Kritzmacher to lead the finance function, effective July 1. He previously headed finance at Lucent Technologies and Global Crossing.

Ted Jastrzebski will become finance chief at QVC Inc. next month. He takes over from Dan O’Connell, who retired in May. Jastrzebski joins QVC from The Hershey Co., where he most recently was president of Hershey Americas.

Gavin Wood has been promoted to the top finance spot at Affymetrix Inc. He replaces Tim Barabe, who is expected to retire from the company later this month. Wood has been at the technology firm since 2006, most recently as VP finance, international controller.

Altorfer Inc. has promoted Corey Nuehring to the posts of CFO and vice president of financial services. He had been corporate controller at the firm for the past 11 years.

Digital advertising technology firm MediaShift Inc. has appointed Rick Baran to lead the finance function. He takes over from David Eastman, who will become an adviser to the company. Baran is a former CFO of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment and of Tyco International.

Cristine Hurley has been named to head finance at Previously, she was CFO of the Los Angeles Dodgers and vice president, team finance, at the National Basketball Assn.
