CFOs on the Move: Week Ending October 12

Jim Muehlbauer, who holds the top finance spot at Best Buy Co., is leaving the firm. A search is under way to replace Muehlbauer, who joined the company in 2002.

Federal Signal Corp. has named Braden Waverley as its interim CFO. He takes over from Bill Barker, who will become finance chief at Trustwave. Waverley has been a consultant to Federal Signal since last year; before that, he was executive chairman of CombineNet Inc.

Robert Maida has joined Allied Motion Technologies Inc. and will become head of finance on December 1. In that role, he will succeed Richard Smith, current CFO and executive chairman of the board of directors, who will retire on March 31, 2013. Most recently, Maida was director of finance at Avox Systems Inc.

Thoratec Corp., a provider of device-based mechanical circulatory support therapies, has promoted Taylor Harris to lead the finance function. He replaces vice president of finance Roxanne Oulman, who has been interim CFO since June 2011. Harris has been senior director of investor relations and business development since 2010.

Jeffrey Cammerrer has been promoted to the top finance spot at Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. He has been vice president of accounting and finance since March and corporate controller since 2008.

Finance chief J. Michael Dodson will add the title of chief operating officer to his position at Mattson Technology Inc. He was named CFO in October 2011.
