CFOs on the Move: Week Ending August 14

Adena Friedman has taken over the CFO role at Nasdaq OMX Group, replacing David Warren. Friedman, who has been at Nasdaq since 1993, had been executive vice president of corporate strategy and global data products, and will continue as head of corporate strategy.

Tom Carlile, who has headed finance at wood-products manufacturer Boise Cascade Holdings LLC since 2004, has been named CEO and a member of the board of directors. He takes over from Duane McDougall, who will continue on as chairman.

Chiquita Brands International Inc. has promoted vice president of corporate development and treasurer Michael Sims to CFO. Sims, who has worked at Chiquita for 21 years, replaces Jeffrey Zalla, who is leaving the company.

BRE Properties Inc. has named John Schissel CFO, effective October 5. He succeeds Edward Lange Jr., who will remain at the company as chief operating officer, a role he has had since 2007. Schissel comes to the company from Carr Properties, where he also served as finance chief.

Terry Crews is retiring as CFO of agricultural firm Monsanto Co., effective November 30. He will be replaced by Carl Casale, executive vice president of strategy and operations, on September 1. Crews will remain at the company after that as a special assistant to the CEO until his retirement date.

VeriSign Inc., an Internet-infrastructure services provider, has promoted Brian Robins to its top finance spot. Robins, who has been senior vice president, finance, since August 2007, has been acting CFO since April 2008.

A.J. Verdecchia has resigned as vice president, CFO, and treasurer of Union Drilling Inc., effective September 30. A search is under way to replace Verdecchia, who is pursing another opportunity.

Retailer Harry & David Holdings Inc. has named Ed Dunlap senior vice president and CFO. He is a former CFO of Shaklee Corp.

Kevin Rhodes, CFO of technology management consultant Edgewater Technology Inc., will leave the company on September 4. Chief accounting officer Timothy Oakes will serve as interim CFO until a permanent replacement for Rhodes is found.

SpaceClaim Corp., a provider of 3D direct modeling solutions, has named Gregory Stott to lead the finance function. He is the founding CFO of Convergence.

Morgan Brown is the new CFO at cardiac-assist technology provider World Heart Corp. He comes to the company from Lifetree Clinical Research, where he headed finance.

Demand-response technology provider EnergyConnect Group has appointed Andrew Warner CFO and secretary. He takes over from Randy Reed, who is giving up the position after the company headquarters moves from Oregon to California. Warner is a former CFO of SmartDisk Corp.

Frederick Driscoll is the new vice president, CFO, and treasurer at biotechnology company Novavax Inc. He is a former CFO, president, and CEO of Genelabs Technologies Inc.
