• Blake Jorgensen will fill Yahoo’s finance-chief slot left empty by Susan Decker. Last December, Yahoo named Decker head of its advertiser and publisher sector. Jorgensen co-founded investment bank Thomas Weisel Partners Group, where he has served in various capacities, including chief operating officer and most recently as co-director of investment banking. Previously, Jorgensen was a managing director and principal at the corporate finance department of Montgomery Securities.
• Sharper Image has hired Rebecca Roedell as CFO. Before Roedell begins her new job at the end of the month, Daniel Nelson will continue to serve as the retailer’s interim CFO, a position he has been filling since Jeff Forgan resigned as executive vice president and CFO in November. Nelson will eventually resume his job as senior vice president, controller, and principal accounting officer. Roedell previously worked at Tower Records as CFO and senior vice president. She also held senior assurance manager positions at KPMG and Arthur Andersen. She began her career working as a controller for two privately held companies in California.
• Biomet has hired Daniel Florin as senior vice president and CFO, effective June 5. He currently works at Boston Scientific as vice president and corporate controller, a position he has held for six years. Previously, he held finance and leadership positions at C.R. Bard, Inc. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche. Biomet designs and manufactures medical products.
• F. Gordon Bitter is retiring as senior vice president and CFO of Plexus Corp. after five years. Ginger Jones, the manufacturer’s vice president of finance, will take his place. Jones joined Plexus in April after serving as vice president and corporate controller at Banta Corp. She also held previous jobs at CCC Information Services as a director of finance; Choice Parts as CFO; along with Reynolds and Reynolds, O-Cedar Brands, and Deloitte & Touche in various financial positions.
• David Seligman has left his position as CFO of Syneron Medical Ltd. to “pursue other interests,” according to the company. Fabian Tenenbaum, who was most recently the device maker’s vice president for business development, will take his place. Syneron recently made the announcement along with other management changes at the company. Tenenbaum, who joined the company last year, previously worked at Radiancy as a vice president.
• Executive vice president and CFO Jim Malone is leaving The TriZetto Group to take a similar post at Misys in London. The health-care services company is searching for his replacement.
• VeriChip Corp. has promoted CFO William Caragol to president. He will retain his finance-chief title. Before joining the RFID manufacturer, Caragol was the CFO of GTI. He also worked with emerging technology companies including Millivision Technologies and Condor Technology Solutions. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche.
• Edward Krell has gained the title of chief operating officer of Mothers Work Inc., where he has served as executive vice president and CFO of the retailer since 2003.
• Global Energy has appointed Alex Werber as CFO, who left a similar post at Tissera Industries. Previously, he was CFO of CT Motion Ltd.; chief operating officer of MadahCom Ltd.; business development officer of Norkom Technologies Israel; co-founder of Cellpay Ltd.; vice president of finance of Vcon Telecommunications Ltd.; controller and CFO of Rada Electronic Industries Ltd.; CFO of Yakhin Hakal Group; and auditor and audit manager at Kost, Levary & Forrer.
• Aldagen has hired Matthew Czajkowski as CFO. Before joining the biotechnology company, he was CFO and senior vice president of finance and administration at Pozen and executive vice president, CFO, and chief administrative officer at aaiPharma. He has worked at various other companies including SG Cowen as managing director; Wheat First Butcher Singer Inc. as managing director and head of corporate finance; Goldman Sachs as head of mergers and acquisitions for Asia and Australia; and Bankers Trust Co. as an associate.
• Calypso Wireless has named Robert Sando chief financial officer and secretary. He previously was director of finance and treasurer of Qtera Corp.
