American International Group Inc. named two key members to its finance department.
The embattled insurance giant announced that David L. Herzog will serve as comptroller and has also been elected a senior vice president. Herzog had served as chief financial officer for AIG’s Worldwide Life Insurance operations since 2004. Previously, he served as chief operating officer and CFO of AIG’s domestic life insurance companies, a position he held since the acquisition of American General Corp. in 2001.
Robert A. Gender has been named treasurer and elected an AIG vice president. Gender had previously served as AIG assistant treasurer since 2000, with principal responsibilities for managing AIG’s banking relations, liquidity, and corporate finance. He joined the company in 1998 as director of financial analysis in its treasury department.
Herzog and Gender will report to chief financial officer Steven J. Bensinger.
