  • News Flash: Internet Wire Inc., an online distributor of company news and other business communications materials, appointed John Powers as CFO. Prior to joining Los Angeles-based firm, Powers was the CFO for, where he was responsible for the company’s financial, human resources, legal and administrative functions.
  • Lon McCain is heading west to be the CFO at Denver-based oil and natural gas firm, Westport Resources Corp.. McCain joins Westport Resources from Petrie Parkman & Co., where he was SVP and a principal. His employment is effective immediately.
  • Quantum Leap: Data protection company Quantum Corp. said that its EVP and CFO, Richard Clemmer will be joining Las Vegas-based PurchasePro, a business-to-business E-commerce company, as vice chairman and CFO in mid-May. Clemmer, who has been with Milpitas, Calif.-based Quantum since August 1996, will remain in his position with the company through mid-May and assist the company part-time through July.
  • Another Link in the Chain: XeTel Corp., an Austin, Tex.- based electronics manufacturing and engineering supply-chain management company, announced that David Osowski has been named VP and CFO. Before joining XeTel, Osowski served as CFO for Handtech, an application service and software provider, and Tanknology-NDE International, a publicly-traded petroleum services company.
  • Breakthrough Discovery: Hyseq Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif.- based biopharmaceutical company, named Peter S. Garcia as SVP and CFO. Garcia has been finance chief of other biotech firms, including Novacept Inc., IntraBiotics Pharmaceuticals Inc., and Dendreon Corp.
  • In The Top Ten: Eric Saltzman was named CFO of TimesTen Performance Software, a Mountain View, Calif.-based software and services company. Saltzman joins TimesTen from Cygent Inc., where he was CFO and COO.
  • An Elementary Decision: Procyon BioPharma Inc., a Montreal- based biopharmaceutical company, announced the appointment of Monique Létourneau as EVP of finance and CFO. Prior to joining Procyon, Létourneau spent 12 years with Power Corp. of Canada and Power Financial Corp., first as a financial analyst, then as assistant treasurer.
  • In Sync: Syncor International Corp., a Woodland Hills, Calif.-based provider of high-technology health care services, named William Forste as SVP, treasurer and CFO. Forster succeeds Mike Mikity, who is retiring after 17 years as CFO. Mikity will remain with the company part time. For the last two years, Forster has been a financial consultant to Syncor.
