- Burning the Midnight Oil:
7- Eleven CFO, Ezra Shashoua announced his resignation. He’s planning to take the CFO post at NationsRent Inc., a construction equipment and rental company. Dallas-based 7-Eleven said it is currently searching for a CFO to replace Shashoua, who joined the company as an attorney in 1982 and was named CFO in 2000. In 1999, as 7-Eleven treasurer, Shashoua earned $283,706 in annual salary and bonus and took home $5,547 in other compensation.
- Photo Op:
PictureTel Corporation, a developer, manufacturer, and marketer of audiovisual and streaming- video solutions, has named Dalton Edgecomb as CFO. Edgecomb will succeed interim CFO, Ralph Takala. Takala remains a principal of Altman & Company a position he also held when he was interim CFO. Edgecomb joins the Andover, Massachusetts-based company from financial positions at Zolfo Cooper LLC and Arthur Andersen. Takala replaced Arthur Fatum, the former CFO, who earned $255,000 in salary and bonus as well as an additional $83,835 in other compensation in 1999.
- High Connectivity: Natick, Massachusetts-based Connected, a provider of technology-support services, announced Paul Kincaid to the CFO position. Kincaid joins Connected after serving as CFO of Pilot Software where he worked since 1997. Kincaid also brings financial experience from his positions as corporate controller for Marcam Corporation and as director of finance and administration at Coral Therapeutics.
- Not For Sale:
Florida East Coast, a St. Augustine, Fla.-based real estate company, named Richard Smith as executive vice president and CFO. Smith will replace Robert Nazarian, who has served in both posts and left the company a few months ago. In 1999, Nazarian earned $594,000 in annual compensation. Smith most recently served as vice president and CFO at American Business Products. A company spokesperson said there had been no official replacement as of today’s announcement.
- Phi Beta Capa:
Consonus Inc.,, a provider of business data-center services, network engineering, and Internet- application delivery systems, announced the selection of Robert Simmons as CFO. Simmons joins the Salt Lake City-based company from his most recent position as executive vice president and CFO at Campus Pipeline, a higher education Internet- technology provider. Simmons has also served in finance positions at Iomega and Oracle.
