Writer/blogger Patrick Gray has an interesting take on this issue on TechRepublic. A lot of companies tend to fall back on the “we’ve always done it this way” excuse when the purpose of a process is unclear, Gray says.
“If you’re a high performer, you’ve probably collaborated with business peers and felt a great deal of satisfaction when an IT investment or process improvement measurably impacted company performance,” Gray writes. “While this is noble work, we often spend too little time asking if a process is really necessary.”
