Navdeep Gupta will take over as executive vice president and CFO of Dick’s Sporting Goods on October 1. Gupta has worked at Dick’s since November 2017 as senior vice president of finance and chief accounting officer. Before joining the retailer, Gupta spent 11 years at Advance Auto Parts in various leadership roles, most recently as senior vice president of finance. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of management roles at Sprint Nextel and he served as a Lieutenant in the Indian Navy. Gupta succeeds Lee Belitsky, who will stay with the company as executive vice president.
NBA team the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena appointed Joel Browning as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Browning joins the Hawks from the NBA, where he was a vice president in its team marketing and business operations department and served as an account manager and dedicated sales, marketing, and business operations consultant for several teams, including the Hawks, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets. Browning was previously vice president of business operations and strategy for the Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports and Entertainment. Before that, he spent 10 years in finance roles, serving as a media investment banking analyst for J.P. Morgan and a vice president for Bergman Group, a Los Angeles-based family investment office.
Feedback management platform Netigate hired Erik Nordqvist as its new finance chief. Nordqvist was most recently head of group business control at tech company Klarna, where he was responsible for budget management and financial analysis. He has a background in consulting, including working for Ernst & Young, where he gained experience in finance across the business and technology sectors.
SharpLink Gaming named Brian Bennett as chief financial officer. Bennett most recently was executive director of finance of personal aviation company Cirrus Aircraft. Before that, he worked at diversified energy company Allete, where he began as supervisor of financial reporting before rising to assistant controller. Bennett began his professional career in public accounting at RSM, where he was an assurance manager. Bennett replaces Christian Peterson, who has been interim CFO and vice president of finance since the business was founded in April 2019.
Logistics company GoFor appointed Daphne Huang as finance chief. Huang previously served as chief financial officer and chief accounting officer for Taro, CFO at Humanwell Healthcare USA and Puracap International, and held several positions in financial services at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, FleetBoston, and GE Capital.
Novavax appointed Jim Kelly as executive vice president, CFO, and treasurer. He joins the biotechnology company from Supernus Pharmaceuticals, where he was chief financial officer. Previously, he spent ten years at Vanda Pharmaceuticals, where he was CFO and treasurer. Earlier, he spent over a decade in finance roles of increasing responsibility at MedImmune (now AstraZeneca) and Biogen.
Hi Marley, a communication platform for the insurance industry, appointed Neil Murphy as chief financial officer. Murphy joins the company from Zaius, where he was CFO. In March, he managed Zaius’s acquisition by Optimizely. Before that, he held multiple positions with Enservio, including co-CEO and CFO. He helped scale the business until it became profitable and managed Enservio’s acquisition by Solera, where he remained on as chief financial operating officer.
Petco Health and Wellness Company promoted Brian LaRose to finance chief. Since September 2020, LaRose has served as Petco’s senior vice president of finance. Before joining Petco, he was divisional CFO for HP’s 3D business unit, where he led the separation management office during the separation of HP into two publicly traded companies. During his 20 years at HP, LaRose also led the company’s SEC reporting group and managed investor relationships in over 15 countries as part of the investor relations group. He began his career with Deloitte’s mergers and acquisitions and audit practices. LaRose replaces Mike Nuzzo, who will continue in his role as chief operating officer and president of Petco Services.
Ben Smith was named CFO at oil and gas service provider CAM Integrated Solutions. Smith was previously chief financial officer of Linestar Integrity Services. Before that, he was CFO at Synagro Technologies, where he served as business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team.
