Abstract:
In discussions with more than 300 employers on how the role of finance is transforming in response to business needs, the AICPA and CIMA discovered that the emphasis is shifting from technical skills and the production of good accounting information, which remains essential, to the application of financial disciplines in the management of a business. Reflecting the importance of these management accounting skills and the knowledge demanded by employers, the AICPA and CIMA developed the CGMA Competency Framework. The framework is designed to help CGMA designation holders and their employers understand the knowledge requirements and assess the skills needed for both current and desired roles in management accounting.
