As companies continue to de-emphasize defined benefit (DB) plans, finance executives are more actively considering ways to manage the remaining risk in their plans---including LDI strategies and pension risk transfer solutions. At the same time, they are bolstering defined contribution (DC) plan offerings with lifetime income guarantees, target-date funds, and other enhancements. To explore these and other facets of the retirement and employee benefits landscape in 2013, we surveyed 181 senior finance executives at U.S. companies with $250 million or more in DB plan assets.
