This research examines how finance executives in government, education, and the non-profit sector are using--or plan to use--business intelligence (BI) applications to help turn rapidly proliferating data output into useful management information. It recognizes the widespread difficulties many public-sector organizations have with extracting and using consistent data from across disparate information systems, and provides recommendations for building a metrics-driven culture that employs meaningful information deep within the organization. In particular, the report focuses on challenges and solutions for midsize organizations.
