- Abstract:
- Today, there are large numbers of women in the finance functions of major corporations but disproportionately few women CFOs. To help close the gap, we set out to learn how successful women CFOs navigated to the top spot. Building on the interviews of 15 leading women CFOs in the United States and Europe, CFO recruiters at major search firms, and other senior executives, we synthesized critical lessons useful for anyone aspiring to become a CFO. The study indicates that there is no single path to becoming a CFO. But we discovered that the interplay of key personal traits and values, shaping moments throughout the journey, relationships, and specific skills were vital to creating the total package essential to becoming a top level CFO. Download "The Journey to Leadership: Perspectives from Women Leaders," a collaboration between Deloitte's CFO Program and the Women's Initiative (WIN),to hear compelling insights, personal stories and strategies for navigating the journey to leadership.
