- Abstract:
- Over the past few years, an increasing number of institutional investors began to add hedge funds to the investment portfolio in hopes of taking advantage of their historical resiliency to downward equity markets. In the second half of 2008, hedge funds came under stress and subsequently did not demonstrate the same level of protection they had in the past. As a result, institutional investors are now trying to determine how hedge funds should be viewed in the current environment and the outlook moving forward. This whitepaper identifies the four specific risk areas faced by hedge funds that materialized at the end of 2008.
