Abstract:

All along, the finance and accounting community was seen only as an ýable assistantý helping the management in ýkeeping scoreý of accounts, prepare and present financial statements and overall help maintain credit-worthiness of the organization. However, in the recent past, financial markets have been extremely volatile. There is an increased need to support fair value measurements, there are directional changes from a regulation perspective and overall there is a move towards global convergence of accounting standards. Needless to say, today, the expectation of the executive leadership (the Board or the CEO) from the Finance and Accounting function has increased many fold.
