- Abstract:
- Hedge fund techniques are here permanently. Currently growing at approximately 20% per annum, the total value of the industry is now estimated at $2.48 trillion.1 The once ‘alternative market’ is becoming increasingly mainstream with most new inflows being institutional. The increasing popularity of hedge funds as an investment for institutions has given rise to much discussion on performance measurement in the sector. The ongoing innovation in the industry such as the phenomenon of replication products and tracker indices will fuel further the demand for high-quality performance data on the sector as a whole and by sub-category. Indexing is unavoidable.
