If you think creating and using those "time-saving" Excel macros actually eat up more time than they're worth, give us a chance to change your mind. Take the pain out of creating and using macros so you can get back to preparing and analyzing budgets and statements of accounts.

Macros, those tiny programs that store repetitive keystrokes, only live up to their promise of shaving hours off of budget and account preparation work if they are created and recorded effectively.

Join Bill "MrExcel" Jelen as he guides intermediate and advanced Excel users through the steps to create and build simple, yet valuable, macros you'll use every day.

From this Webcast, you will learn:

  • Two settings to allow the macro recorder to work;

  • How to deal with data sets that each contain a different number of records each month;

  • How to incorporate repetition, such as repeating a report for every cost center or account;

  • How to move your IF functions to a macro; and

  • How to create secret macros that run in response to any event, such as entering data in cell A2.

We will also present examples of real-world scenarios where you would use macros, such as the following: On a daily basis, you track accounts receivables by vendor, as well as totals, so you can update your company's working capital metrics. To help the team get a quick handle on the age of receivables, you color code totals that exceed certain thresholds. Using a macro to capture the daily and weekly Excel calculations and formatting will cut down on repetitive keystrokes and mouse clicks to help you breeze through the process.
