In planning for renewed growth in 2011, finance executives will need the analytics that help them tie operations data to financial results. However, our survey reveals that finance executives still see gaps between their uses of financial data and non-financial data. In particular, they see room for improvement in the use of more-sophisticated analytical capabilities to complement their reliance on management experience in decision making. Finance executives expect that their companies will invest in the kinds of technology that can improve financial analytics, as long as investments are aligned with the needs of the business. But to do so, they will need to deal with the challenges posed by complexity in IT systems and processes.
