New York, NY (March 27, 2007) – CFO.com, an Economist Group business, was named Best Website last week by American Business Media. At the 53rd Annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards ceremony on March 22nd, the website received the highly-coveted award for editorial achievement in the category of websites with monthly traffic of 100,000-500,000 unique visitors.
In addition, CFO.com’s article Companies Fire Back at Backdating Report by Sarah Johnson was a finalist for best single online article and CFO magazine’s March 2006 issue was a finalist for best single issue of a magazine.
Known as “the Pulitzer Prize of the business media,” the esteemed Jesse H. Neal Awards recognize editorial excellence in independent business publications. "The reporters and editors at CFO.com work hard every business day delivering analysis and the latest news about corporate finance," said Tim Reason, Editorial Director of CFO.com. "We have a lot of fun doing that, but it is a tremendous added boost to be recognized with such a prestigious award." The awards exemplify the American Business Media mission: to enhance the knowledge and best practices of leading media companies that provide quality information for business and professional markets worldwide.
The award is given to the editorial staff – Dave Cook, Sarah Johnson, David Katz, Marie Leone, Tim Reason and Helen Shaw – which has helped bring previous recognition to the site as well. CFO.com’s prior awards include the 2006 EPpy Award, presented by Editor and Publisher magazine for the Best Internet Business Service for websites with fewer than 1 million visitors per month; the 2006 Bronze Folio Award for Best B2B Online Website; two awards in 2004 from the American Society of Business Publication Editors for Best Overall Web Publication and Best Original Web Commentary; and the 2004 and 2005 Excellence in Journalism Award from The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
