CFO Magazine Launches New IT Publication
New Quarterly Examines IT Trends and Issues from a Financial Perspective

Boston, MA-March 17, 2003-CFO IT, a new IT publication written for financial executives, launches this week. While most publishers are cutting back their roster of titles, CFO magazine is expanding by creating a new quarterly that addresses one of the most complicated issues facing corporations today: what is the ultimate value of information technology (IT), and which IT investments make the most sense in the current economic climate?

“In December of 2002, the reader response from our pilot issue of CFO IT clearly demonstrated that there is a tremendous demand for IT information, particularly coverage that looks beyond gadgets and trends to focus on what companies need from information systems, and how to rationalize and evaluate technology purchases,” says Kevin Quinlan, Publisher of CFO magazine and CFO IT. “We’ve made CFO a success by providing unbiased information that’s tailored to the needs of finance executives, and we see a genuine need to cover IT in the same way. We are providing a resource that fills in the gaps other publications are not addressing.”

CFO IT’s March issue will feature stories on the role that technology can (and can’t) play in helping companies deal with regulatory pressure such as Sarbanes-Oxley, the promise of “performance management” software, ways to make expensive IT projects more successful, the new risk and reward scenario facing offshore outsourcers, and much more.

“As American businesses cut costs and scrutinize every line item in the budget, IT is definitely an area that is commanding far more of a CFO’s time and attention,” says CFO IT Editor Scott Leibs. “In a crowded market we believe we will stand out by bringing a new level of analysis to IT, one that looks beyond the technology itself and instead roots IT firmly in the larger picture of corporate strategy. Our goal is to arm a key decision-maker, the CFO, with information in the proper context so that he or she can help lead the company forward and avoid costly mistakes of the past.”

CFO is published monthly by CFO Publishing Corp., a division of The Economist Group. With a rate base of 450,000, CFO is the leading business publication for C-level and senior executives. CFO reaches an international audience of corporate leaders with its global group of magazines, including CFO.com, CFO Europe, CFO Asia, and CFO China. CFO IT will publish in March, June, September and December and will reach all CFO subscribers while also achieving international circulation through CFO’s European and Asian editions.
